Here’s a breakdown of the 1944 Mercury dime mintages and values for the three issues produced during that year: Philadelphia was the most prolific producer of dimes in 1944, with Denver and San Francisco putting out smaller, but still significant, quantities of the coin that year. As was the case in 1943, more than 300 million Mercury dimes rolled out of the United States Mint in 1944, and the date remains exceedingly common to this day, despite mass melting of the series during spikes of the silver bullion price.
